Carlos Mateo Vida of Honolulu, Hawai'i passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2022, at the age of 86. Carlos Mateo Vida was born on February 01, 1936 at Cavite City, Philippines to the late Alfredo and Primitiva Vida. He was the eldest of five children. He is survived by his wife, Teresa M. Vida, their five beautiful children: Cynthia Lacad [Rudy Lacad], Darryl Vida [Evangeline "Vangie Vida”], Edgar Vida [Sharla Vida], Susan Vida-Sampayan [Joselito Sampayan] and Mark Vida [Daphne Vida]. Their eight grandchildren: Cairene R. Vida [John Pinpin], Kayla A. Sansonetti [Steve Sansonetti], Edison J. Vida, Jehrel V. Sampayan, Sharmelle M. Vida, Sierra V. Sampayan, Alyssa M. Soratorio [Renz Soratorio], Christopher R. Dangaran, and Jiana V. Sampayan. Six great grandchildren: Kaiya F. Hayden, Serenity L. Hayden, Kayzen V. Mateo, Landon P. Sansonetti, Olivia R.Soratorio, and Anthony J. Sansonetti. Siblings: Alfredo Vida and Leticia Vida. Carlos graduated from Philippines High School. He married Teresa M. Vida March 23, 1963. He joined the United States Navy (active duty) March 1959 to November 1985 (retired) and received numerous meritorious awards. He was a Vietnam combat refugee during his military services. He also was an active member with the Cavitenians & Association of Hawaii. He did three executive terms as the President for the Cavitenians. He loved spending time with his family, especially eating out at Denny's and other restaurants. He loved cooking, watching his favorite tv shows, shopping, traveling to Las Vegas, playing mahjong, and playing pokeno. He always made sure the kids had food to eat. He also loved to spoil his grandchildren. He loved attending parties and spending time with his Cavitenian friends. Carlos was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He always wore a smile on his face, he was loving, compassionate, generous, and always thought of others first. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church for the viewing, 92-455 Makakilo Drive, Kapolei, HI 96707, on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Following will be the burial at National Cemetery of the Pacific, "Punchbowl" 2177 Puowaina Drive, Honolulu, HI 96813 on Monday, August 01, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
